The tools built for this work are sophisticated, scalable, and expensive. They were designed for the organizations that could afford them.

Running alongside that world, always visible, was a different sector entirely. Nonprofits. Local government agencies. Community service providers. The organizations that reach the largest number of people — from basic benefits to growth opportunities. The sector that enables nutrition, education, health, housing, and financial equity. The sector that, when it works well, is how communities and society advance from the ground up.

This sector was — and largely still is — running on spreadsheets, email chains, and disconnected tools. Not because the need wasn't understood, but because nothing had been built specifically for it.
